The Mandalorian Season 2 Episode 2 | SPOILER REVIEW!

In this week’s episode of The Mandalorian, we follow Mando and The Child as they leave Tattooine and go on a side-mission which strands them on an icy planet with a group of very angry, horrifying spiders. ‘Chapter 10 / The Passenger’ was directed by Peyton Reed who also directed the two ‘Ant-Man’ movies. What are you trying to say Reed? HUH.

Now one thing about me which affects this episode is the fact that I have intense arachnophobia. Thankfully when I woke up this morning I saw Jeremy Jahns’ thumbnail for his review which gave me a heads-up. I can tell you now that I will NEVER rewatch this episode. This is definitely my least-favourite purely because of how terrifying it is. Is it well-made? I guess, it’s a filler episode and it doesn’t offer anything worth noting. No character development, no story just filler. You could definitely skip this episode and not miss a thing.

So far, my least-favourite episode of ‘The Mandalorian’ has to be the pilot. I know, quite the unpopular opinion. I just rewatched it with my brother and I while I enjoyed it more the second time, it is still incredibly slow-paced. Nothing exciting really happens for the majority of it. That being said, every episode after offered something exciting and new to the table, filler or not. This episode has the horror element going for it, they even made a reference to ‘Alien’ at one point. It’s got quite an intense last ten minutes which I struggled intensely to get through. I swear it took me an hour and a half to get through this episode. It looks very distinct, the cold tones and colours brought this very helpless and tense atmosphere. I mean it literally takes place on an ice planet. However it never felt like a Hoth rip-off, the two places feel very different which is really impressive when you think about it.

It’s also worth noting how this is once again a second episode of a Mandalorian season which revolves around eggs. Very odd, it could be intentional, it could also be a complete coincidence. Speaking of eggs however, Baby Yoda needs to calm the fuck down. I don’t know whose idea it was to have him eat these endangered baby eggs as a joke but it was just weird. At first, it was funny but it kept going on and on and on, literally till the last second. I really did feel bad for that poor frog lady. Hope she gets her babies to where she planned on. He also opened a goddamn spider egg and ate said spider which made my skin crawl, I hated every second of it. As I’m writing this I realized I have to go back to take screenshots and I’m already sweating.

That’s it for this review! Sorry for keeping it short but besides the tramatizing horror of this episode, there wasn’t really much to talk about. It was also a pretty short episode. I hope I get to fully enjoy next week’s episode! Till next time, this is the way!
